FACILITY

Mohawk Innovative Technology, Inc. (MiTi ) is located at 1037 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Albany, New York. The company has thirty employees and numerous consultants, with extensive experience in research and development, foil bearing manufacturing and in transferring technology from concept to product. MiTi occupies a 13,000 sq.ft. stand alone facility that includes 5,000 sq.ft. of office space and 8,000 sq.ft. of manufacturing and test space with three hardened test cells. Manufacturing facilities exist for compliant surface gas bearings and seals, and magnetic bearings.

Available test rigs include two tribometers, three high-speed lift off life test rigs, a 70,000 rpm foil bearing rotordynamic simulator, an 80,000 rpm 700 lb load high-temperature thrust foil bearing development rig, 50,000 rpm 1200°F journal foil bearing and seal test rig, a turbocharger simulator system capable of 120,000 + rpm and 1200°F operation, several magnetic bearing slave test rigs for use in evaluating new control algorithms, hybrid magnetic bearings and auxiliary/backup bearings. Besides our in-house model shop, MiTi has established a network of vendors capable of fabricating many of the individual elements that go into compliant foil seals, compliant foil bearings and magnetic bearings.
