Korolon™ 1350

Korolon™ 1350 is the latest coating developed by MiTi®. Korolon™ 1350 combines an excellent wear resistance with a very low coefficient of friction. This ceramic-based coating has an excellent corrosion resistance and a high elasticity, as well as outstanding thermal barrier properties. Following an extensive R&D, MiTi® has developed a proprietary adhesion technology to impart dramatically improved abrasion resistance to the coatings that can be used on soft or hard metals and also on ceramics. Process parameters during coating deposition are controlled to optimize the critical properties needed for high temperature applications. The crystallographic type and size of the coating constituents are also varied to obtain required physical specifications, such as dimensional tolerance and surface finish.

TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Extensive friction and wear testing has shown that Korolon™ 1350 has excellent wear and friction performance both at room temperature and at high temperatures. Extensive performance testing has been conducted on Korolon™ 1350 coatings using journal bearing and thrust bearing tests. A low coefficient of friction coefficient on the order of 0.1 was obtained in air.

SURFACE PROPERTIES
Structure - A dense, non columnar, structure with surface finish in the range of 0.3-0.4micrometers. Excellent adhesion to the substrate and good release properties. Offer a unique combination of surface enhancing properties. Very thin and dense coatings are applied. Process parameters are controlled to optimize the properties of the coating for specific applications. These coatings are designed using sub-micron sized particles with specific binders, since this can significantly influence the tribological performance of the coating.
