COATINGS - KOROLON™ 1350
KOROLON™ 1350 is the latest coating developed by Mohawk Innovative Technology, Inc. (MiTi). Korolon™ 1350 has elasticity and very low friction. MiTi have developed proprietary adhesion technologies to provide dramatically improved abrasion resistance to soft metals and also high temperature capability. Process parameters are controlled to optimize the properties critical for high temperature applications. The crystallographic type and size are also varied for specific physical specifications.

Structure - A dense, non columnar, amorphous structure with surface finish in the range of 0.3-0.4ľm. Excellent surface adhesion and good release properties. Offer a unique combination of surface enhancing properties. Very thin and dense coatings are applied. Process parameters are controlled to optimize the properties of the coating for specific applications. These coatings are designed using sub-micron sized particles with specific binders, since this can significantly influence the tribological performance of the coating.
Extensive friction and wear testing has shown that KOROLON™ 1350 has excellent wear and friction performance under high temperature conditions. High temperature, high speed testing was conducted on a sophisticated tribometer using a coated Inconel X750 pad on an Electrolyzed 718 disc set-up (contact pressure was 21KPa). The friction coefficient was in the range of 0.17 when tested in air at a high temperature of 1350oF.
